The three dentists, Bill Kennedy, Nigel Bratten and Madalina Caliman, collectively bring a wealth of knowledge, experience and enthusiasm for the Practice of Dentistry.
They are committed to providing painless, long lasting, quality care in a safe, relaxed and friendly environment.

The professional staff at Papanui Dental Centre, ensure caring for your teeth and gums is easy and convenient by providing:

    • a full range of dental services
    • evening appointments
    • off street parking and
    • daily emergency treatment appointments.

Treatment plans are discussed in plain language you can understand and options tailored to suit you. Dental phobias are often a deterrent to seeking regular care. There are a number of sedation techniques available that are safe and predictable, which allow your Dentist to manage and overcome this barrier.

Take the opportunity to see their “Registered Dental Hygienist” to have your teeth and gums gently cleaned and teeth polished. Simple oral hygiene techniques that you can be taught to use at home will save you money by avoiding preventable problems.

“Professional Tooth Whitening” is a very popular, fast and easy way to rejuvenate your smile and can be a stepping-stone towards more advanced cosmetic solutions, which your Dentist can discuss with you.

Having sensitive teeth cleaned can be quite unpleasant, even when performed by a gentle and experienced Hygienist or Dentist. This is a thing of the past with the use of Nitrous Oxide. The pain reducing properties and mild sedation affects wear off within minutes after the cleaning is finished, allowing patients to get back to their usual routine.

Isn’t it time you enjoyed the significant benefits of having fresh breath, a healthy mouth and a beautiful smile ~ call Papanui Dental Centre, 352 6019 today and make it a reality.

Dr. Madalina Caliman

Dr. Madalina CalimanDr. Madalina Caliman graduated in 1997 from the University of Dentistry and after 4 years of practising general dentistry, in 2001 she moved from Europe to New Zealand where she registered with the Dental Council of NZ through University of Otago in 2004.

Like other dental surgeons she is also a member of NZ Dental Association.

Madalina joined Papanui Dental Centre in October 2008 and has approached different aspects of dentistry such as porcelain crowns, veneers, white bonded fillings, Cerec crowns, root canal treatments, etc.
She enjoys working in a nice relaxed environment using a gentle and sensitive style.

“I deeply care about my patients and empathize with their fear. I want their dental experience in my surgery to be as positive and as comfortable as possible.”

In her effort to maintain high standards within her practice she is continuously improving her knowledge through attending courses and conferences, keeping her up to date with the new technologies and innovations.

Dr. Bill Kennedy

Bill KennedyI graduated from Otago Dental School in 1985 and worked at Dunedin Public Hospital as a Dental Housesurgeon. It is a sought after position that provided valuable experience and further training.
After working in general practice in London I returned to Christchurch and have been working at Papanui Dental Centre since 1988.

I am very sympathetic towards anxious patients and so provide a range of sedation techniques combined with gentle and painless care.

I know patients don’t like to be kept waiting and are concerned about what their treatment will cost. I run to time and will tailor treatment to suit individual circumstances after discussing this with you. I believe regular checkups allow conservative treatment and prevention of problems so that fees are kept to a minimum.

My aim is to provide high quality long lasting Dentistry at reasonable cost in a caring, friendly and relaxed environment.

Nigel Bratten

I qualified in 1987 at Glasgow University. After 5 years of working in Glasgow, I took a placement in Saudi Arabia for 2 years where I worked as a Dentist and met my wife Deirdre. We  moved to New Zealand in 1998, where we settled and had our family , daughter Siobhan and son Fearghus.

I owned a dental practice in BNZ house in the city centre from 1999-2011, when I was evicted by the earthquakes. I relocated to Ferrymead Dental Centre and North Canterbury Dental Centre until purchasing George Glaussius’ Dental Practice in June 2017. I am a member of NZDA.

I settled quickly with the great team here at Papanui Dental Centre,  and with my caring nature and sense of humour I hope to help to put you at ease and ensure that you always feel able to ask questions and be part of all decisions made. I enjoy the outdoors, skiing, tramping, DIY and my family.

My aim is to provide high quality and affordable Dental Care, in a gentle and caring manner.
